I also don't agree to be Real ID friends with everyone I know in real life in just the same way I don't agree to allow my Grandma to be friends with me on Facebook (for fear of her seeing pictures of me at parties, etc.).Īnyway, all that said, our Real ID feature set is constantly moving and so I wouldn't hazard to say that things like a 'hidden' option will never exist, but it's fairly opposite to the intent of the system, and like I said before, can create some really bizarre social behavior that undermines the usefulness of it. And sometimes, i just want to take a day off and ladder by my self instead of being led on to ventrilo and having to explain to my friends why I'm not on ventrilo and instead playing online alone, then eventually led into some custom game or a different game than Starcraft.

A message could pop up when logged into the game in this way and say something like "You are in invisible mode, your online friends can't see you, but if you choose to message them, or run into them laddering, this illusion will fail". I mean is it really so hard to had a checkbox control to the login page of starcraft2/wow/whatever? And if that box is checked we do not get signed into or the friend system. I don't understand why a game as big as Starcraft 2 doesn't have an appear offline, but Heroes of Newerth does. I know you will probably tell me to just put my self on busy, or just say maybe later. That we need an appear offline mode for SC2.
